Stacking DAO Executive Shares Seven Predictions for Crypto Industry in 2025
Lior Shimron, Head of Growth at Bitcoin-focused DeFi platform Stacking DAO, outlined his key predictions for the cryptocurrency industry in 2025 in a recent Forbes column. Shimron highlighted that the past year solidified crypto’s position as an unstoppable global force, driven by developments such as the launch of ETFs tracking major cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin surpassing $100,000, growing stablecoin adoption that reinforces dollar dominance, Donald Trump’s support for cryptocurrencies, and rising institutional adoption.
According to Shimron, a leading nation from either the G7 or the BRICS bloc will announce plans to establish a strategic Bitcoin reserve, following the example set by the United States. He noted that countries are likely to act swiftly to diversify their national reserves, given Bitcoin’s limited supply and growing status as a store of value.
Shimron also expects major American tech giants—including Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL), Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT), Google (NASDAQ: GOOGL), Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN), Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA), Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA), and Meta (NASDAQ: META)—to begin investing in Bitcoin and holding it on their balance sheets, similar to MicroStrategy.
This trend will be fueled by new accounting regulations from the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), which allow companies to report cryptocurrencies on their balance sheets at fair market value, recording both gains and losses as prices fluctuate.
Earlier, leading U.S. crypto miner Marathon emphasized that the United States must lead in Bitcoin holdings and global network hash rate to safeguard against foreign interference.
Overall, Shimron predicts that the total cryptocurrency market capitalization will surpass $8 trillion by 2025. He also foresees increased developer interest, resulting in new decentralized applications (dApps) attracting millions of users across areas such as artificial intelligence, decentralized finance (DeFi), decentralized physical infrastructure networks (DePIN), and more.
