After massive layoffs, Twitter is recruiting again for “hardcore” work
Despite the recent massive layoffs at Elon Musk’s new Twitter (NYSE:TWTR) company — nearly half of its workforce has been made redundant — hundreds of people have started applying for jobs again using LinkedIn ads.
Recall: just last month, Elon Musk fired thousands of people – about half of the company’s employees – and more than 2,000 employees quit themselves. Among those fired were several top executives, including former Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal.
In general, after the arrival of Musk on Twitter, the company began to unrest: employees even faced the need to sleep in the office, constant rankings and layoffs, as well as cutting popular benefits such as free lunch, extra days off and remote work. Musk gave his remaining employees an ultimatum: commit to working “hardcore” — long hours at high intensity — or resign. The ultimatum resulted in more than half of the company’s 4,000 remaining employees leaving, and she had to struggle to convince some others to stay. However, those who chose to stay were later fired.
But last Sunday, Twitter posted about 20 job listings on LinkedIn for engineering and design positions, ranging from web, iOS and Android engineering positions to product design positions in California and New York.
The company also listed 11 job openings on its page. All job postings state that they are for “future opportunities” in the company. In particular, more than 500 applications have already been submitted for one vacancy of a software engineer on LinkedIn.
An attractive point is the salary, which ranges from $142,000 to $200,000 for software engineers with at least 3 years of experience and up to $243,000 – $338,000 for senior software engineers with more than 9 years of experience. The median salary for a software engineer in San Francisco is $108,603.
Another bonus is that Twitter employees will still be able to receive stock options under the “continuing compensation plan.”
