Hackers Hacked Binance and Stole $100 Million in Cryptocurrency
The CEO of the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange Binance, Changpeng Zhao, announced on Twitter today that the exchange was hacked. Hackers managed to attack the bridge between blockchains and steal about $100 million in Binance Coin currency, but now the situation has been settled, writes Business Insider.
Zhao was quick to reassure the exchange’s customers, writing that “The issue has now been resolved. Your funds are safe. We apologize for the inconvenience and will provide appropriate further updates.”
Zhao pointed out that the damage is estimated at around $100 million, or a quarter of the last BNB (Binance Coin) burned.
About $7 million of stolen funds were immediately frozen. That being said, the BNB network is under maintenance and all deposits and withdrawals through the BNB chain are temporarily suspended.
