Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on partial mobilization in the Russian Federation, mobilization activities will begin on September 21, citizens who are in the reserve will be called up for military service.

“To protect our homeland, its sovereignty and territorial integrity, to ensure the security of our people and people in the liberated territories, I consider it necessary to support the proposal of the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff to conduct partial mobilization in the Russian Federation,” Putin said during an address to citizens.

He also said that the relevant order had been signed. Mobilization activities will begin on September 21.

“Only citizens who are in the reserve will be subject to conscription. And above all, those who served in the armed forces have certain military specialties and relevant experience,” the president added.

According to the head of state, those called up for military service before being sent to units will undergo additional military training without fail, taking into account the experience of a special military operation.

Speaking about the decree, Putin said that “in accordance with the law, the chambers of the federal assembly: the Federation Council and the State Duma will be officially informed about this by letters today.”

Putin also instructed the heads of regions to provide all necessary assistance in the work of military commissariats.
