Honda recalls more than 200,000 cars made in China

Japanese automaker Honda Motor Co (TYO:7267). recalls more than 200,000 vehicles made in China due to brake sensor problems.

In particular, about 106 thousand hybrid cars produced from October 2018 to September 2020 by Honda’s joint venture with the Chinese Dongfeng Motor Group Co. will be recalled, the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) of the PRC said. In addition, 95,000 vehicles manufactured by Honda’s JV with Guangzhou Automobile Group Co. are being recalled.

Two Chinese partners of a Japanese company will replace defective components in the recalled vehicles.

In the last fiscal year ending in March, Honda JVs in China produced 1.62 million vehicles, down 14% from a year earlier.

Honda shares fell 0.2% in trading on Thursday. Since the beginning of this year, their value has decreased by 6%.
