The hero of the “The Big Short” predicted a recession in the United States
Michael Berry, the protagonist of The Big Short, predicted a US recession in 2023 and a new surge in inflation, according to Business Insider.
“Inflation has reached its peak, but this is not the last peak of this cycle,” he said. According to him, in the second half of 2023, the US economy will inevitably face a recession.
Inflation jumped to a 40-year high of 9.1% in June and remained above 7% in November, well above the US Federal Reserve’s 2% target. The central bank responded by raising the base interest rate from almost zero to more than 4% and signaling that it will exceed 5% in 2023.
